United Illuminating’s Smart Living Center is the
countries premier venue for energy efficient ideas & products for
business, residential customers and children.
Smart Living Center
The UI Smart Living Center hosts feature exhibits,
product demonstrations and displays that promote and teach energy
conservation. The FDI mission was quite diverse for this particular
project. First was to deliver a high-end millwork package for the
space that features sweeping curved walls, surrounds for lighting
demos and custom “built in” desks, workstations and reception
area. The package was very natural with the use of maple wood,
aluminum and frosted glass. Second was to conceive and develop
interactive demonstrations for the Light Lab, Energy Consumption and
Energy Comparison games. The interactive games combined state of the
art electronics, paper-thin
glowing graphics with E-Lite film and a lets have fun philosophy.
The space entertains diverse school groups as well as general
contractors successfully. The
Smart Living Center is a unique environment that combines the
education, energy conservation concepts and products available to
the business and residential community.
